I’m preparing my piece for 11-11-11. It is a VCS3 patch that will react to the environment in which it is played. The environment in which it will be played is a 10 story stairwell in the former Rainier brewery. The reverb time of this space is near 15 seconds! This patch allows me to feel the vibrations and the harmonic resonance of the space. The entire experiment will be filmed and (hopefully) uploaded on 11-11-11 at 11:11:11pm. Stay Tuned!

STACIAN, ACINONYX, STELLA HAZE, JABON (AGAIN)

Milwaukee-based Stacian, who’s playing with Acinonyx, was heretofore unknown to me, but quick immersion in Stacian’s Bandcamp proved I’d been living a diminished life without this music. The few tracks I sampled sound like darker takes on early-’80s John Carpenter scores and the Liquid Sky soundtrack—all disjointed beats, diseased synth tones, and queasy, alienated atmospheres.
