Welcome 2002! Thus begins the seventh year of these updates... and boy are my finger's cramped.

To ring in the new year we thought it appropriate to make your ears ring with Cut of the Month, so tune in to mighty mighty MUDHONEY's "Crooked and Wide" from their forthcoming album on SubPop. This is one of three pieces recorded at Gravelvoice last month, and we are very happy with the results. I think this song is the lost track from Black Sabbath's first LP, but you be the judge. The Mudhoney sessions, but the way, were completed on my 37th Birthday. What better way to spend the day than hanging out with the Mudhoney's and making great music?

LARRY HURD came in sequence a decade of music into a concise CD-length project, which is no small feat, let me tell you. Larry's music has a decidedly 80's pop sound, so it was fun to hear.

JARROD POWELL brought Jessika Kenney in to record six Chinese poems by Stonehouse which have been translated in to English by Red Pine and then arranged vocally by Powell. These pieces premiered at the Seattle Asian Art Museum at the "Looking to the East" concert in November.

RON JOHNSON added new vocals to his country tunes for a Nashville demo. Ron, as you may remember, funded/published Winston Jarrett's CD, which we recorded several months ago.

MACHETE began recording their quasi-traditional Cuban music, featuring Acoustic bass and guitar, and a percussion table of congas, timbale, wood block, and an instrument we referred to as "The Box" (because we don't really know what it is).

LUXO CHAMP was in to record a SCREAMERS cover for a forthcoming compilation.

And on 12-21-01, the Gravelvoice Corporate Solstice party was shaken by CLIMAX GOLDEN TWINS. If you were there you know just how great the show was.
