This is my first post under the new e.groups managment system.
Cut of the Month is by DEGENERATE ART ENSEMBLE from "Razor Stitch". I think you'll find it delightfully bizarre. DAE came in several times this month to mix "Razor Stitch" and "Rinko". Both of these dance pieces were performed live recently, and these recordings document the compositions.
SUN CITY GIRLS continue to track additional material for future release, and each session is better than the last.
BLACK CAT ORCHESTRA came in to finish mixing their soundtrack for Fritz Lang's "Spies" film. Some of this material will make it's way on to their greatly anticipated second album.
EL GRAND CONQUISTADORS shook the walls with their brand of psychedellic music. This session was doubly interesting since David Huber was in attendence. While I tracked the band to analog multitrack, Dave tracked them to Cool Edit Pro (16 tracks!), and it worked just fine!
BEAST 666 RECORDS in Japan had me master a compilation for them featuring cuts by Gregg Turkington, Surfers of Romantica, Silver Apples, Destroy All Monsters, Culturcide, Raymond Scott, Tiny Tim, William Burroughs, Evil Moisture, Christine 23 ONNA, Prick Decay, The Dead C, and others.
CLIMAX GOLDEN TWINS have settled into a long stay while working on their soundtrack for the film "Session 9" by director Brad Anderson (Next Stop Wonderland). This very scarey, dark and creepy film stars David Caruso and is being produced by USA Films. I'll keep you updated on it's release date, which will most likely be around April, 2001.
The Corporate X-Mas Party was a smashing success! A few Super 8 films were shown, Zappa was played all night (it was his 60th birthday, afterall), CGT played a "rock and roll" set live, and, of course, improvisations by various members of the art community ensued.
Happy New Year!
