Cut of the Month is an older piece that I had promised you in the past.
It's CHRISTIAN and MIHO's MALLET JAZZ. I took this disc out recently and
was amazed at the recording quality and the tightness of this group. It was
a real dine and dash sort of project but the musicians were talented. This
will bring up images of Martin Denny or Arthur Lyman because it has vibes
and marimba. I like those records and I love this recording.

Most of the month (20 days to be exact) I was out in the frozen tundra of
Portland, Maine. It was 10 degrees and snowing the whole time. I loved it.
Since it was so wintery, I decided to record a full length CD with CERBERUS
SHOAL. You must check this band out. It's a cross between Beefheart,
current Flaming Lips, early Residents and what the Butthole Surfers would
be doing now if they hadn't become a rock band. Such talent I've not seen
for so long. I'm working on my diary for all to view, but that will be next
month.

Work continues on the new studio and the XXX AUDIO record. We will be
mixing this punk pop record very soon.

I was also able to squeeze in a mastering session for a new SUN CITY GIRLS
single which features Your Uncle Jim on both sides. We also put together
the first of a series of double records featuring most of the material from
the cassette series from days of yor. The first volume is "God is My Solar
System" and "Super Power".

Tari Nelson ZAGAR and Jesse CANTERBURY came in for an evening to record
some clarinet and violin improvs. Nice use of the room!

Oh! have you heard? The Charlie Patton box set that I worked on has been
nominated for 3 Grammys! Yippee!
