What's shakin'?
You thought that was an earthquake, did you? Nah... it was CUT OF THE
MONTH's "Punk Rock Glory" by Wicker Palate. Republican's have regained
power, after all, so it is once again time to scream our way through it
with sweet punk rock. This 45-second blast makes me misty-eyed - "that's
the way mom would have recorded it!"
You thought that first riot happened because Mardi Gras is nothing without
a black eye, did you? Nah... it all started with a mad rush to find the
magazines in which two more of my ARTICLES have been published, thank you
very much. One is a look at Seattle Project Studios (EQ Magazine), and the
other is a technical profile of the inner workings of Seattle's Experience
Music Project (Mix Magazine). Both articles were published in the February
issues of the aforementioned mags, and can be found at any newstand worth a
damn.
You thought that was a freak blizzard, did you? Nah... it was
congratulatory confetti from on-high in celebration of "the month of
mastering," with ARKADE finishing their first LP, BLACK CAT ORCHESTRA
finishing their LP "Mysteries Explained" (a CD release party is scheduled
for April 6th at the Tractor Tavern), and BARRY LEIBERMAN's completion of
his double album of ten Vivaldi Sonata's on bass. All of these projects
were mastered by Barry Corliss at Masterworks in Seattle.
Studio work continues on the CHARLIE PATTON box set, SUN CITY GIRLS'
various aural delights, and BRIDGET ST. JOHN's brand of 80's pop.
SIR RICHARD BISHOP was in to start work on his project of Superfly/Dolemite
inspired music that will make you feel all funky, indeed.
SUN CITY GIRLS were in to do the final edits on Volume 7 - Libyan Dream.
This is actually a reissue of an ultra-rare LP that never quite got around
(pity, too).
And finally, you thought that second riot was a Fat Tuesday celebration
gone very wrong, did you? Nah... it's just that several records have been
released recently, and the masses just couldn't take all the pleasure:
Michael Bisio/ Eyvind Kang - MBEK (Meniscus)
Friendly Little Finger - self titled
Sun City Girls - Sumatran Electric Chair (Abduction)
Ota Prota - self titled (Anu)
Pat Readon & Kim Cronin - Way Down in a Song (Firsthand)
Immersion - audio DVD in surround sound (Starkland)
Sorry for all the mayhem. Just trying to do my job.
