The Tape Op issue in which I was interviewed is now available for your pleasure. This is a full size issue and should be on your offbeat newstand right now. Check it out - then tell me about it, as I haven't seen it yet (but I've heard alot about it)!

I've been doing more "non-recording" projects again, but it's all related to the art. For instance, each issue of MIX magazine, beginning with the March issue, will now carry my handiwork in the Studio News section. I use to read the Northwest section with dismay because it was either non-existant or pitifully small, as if nothing worth mentioning goes on here anymore, but au contraire - there is plenty to talk about! Hence, I took it upon myself to call the various recording studios in the area, find out what they've been doing, and tell the whole world. The studio response has been good, and there are a certainly plenty of interesting projects in the works on which I will report in the pages of MIX... but you've got to read it to find out what they are (tease tease).

The Climax Golden Twins have finished their CD for the Meme label in Japan, and also finished a side project with Mark Bruback this month. The Bruback project is is a 10" album - one side of Bruback's poetry with CGT music, one side of Steve Ignorant from Crass. To be released on the Outcast label, it is certain worth giving a listen.

The Sandwhich People are continuing their efforts of Zappa-esque madness and should be finished soon.

I did a remote test recording for Bareknuckle Boxers a few weeks ago which was quite interesting. They play that great Irish/Scottish/folkish/rootish/drinking type of music which is gaining in popularity right now, and I'm quite impressed with their work. Hopefully this test will result in a full blown recording - their music really should be available to all..

Speaking of remote recordings, I have been combing the Pike Place Market (only the most recognizeable land-mark in Seattle!), recording sound effects for a smattering of upcoming radio ads the Market is putting together (you may have seen me there). I'm glad to have the contract, as this is one aspect of sound engineering/producing I haven't done in some time. These ads will run in the summer.

Something I'm quite excited about, but which is still in the developmental stage (or maybe just the "mental stage") is that I may soon be able to realize a long-held vision for pairing the Sun City City Girls and The Reverand Bruce Howard for a radio show! If you don't know The Reverand, you have no idea how fabulous this pairing would be, but trust me on this one -it would be mind-altering! Again, this is all still in discussion, but progress is being made. Cross your fingers, eh?

If you point your browser to www.ralphamerica.com/audio.html, you can hear some real audio samplers I created for the Residents recently. They will be going on tour soon, too(!) - perhaps they will grace a theatre near you, so be sure to check them out if they come to your town.

talk, talk, talk, there's a lot of that going around
