It's time for the 2 minute warning!!

Seattle residents who have been listening to KCMU have probably heard a song or two off the new Marc Olsen CD "Tunnel Songs" (produced by yours truly) which was officially released May 6th. There will be a release party at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle on May 16th. That's a Friday. Also appearing will be Gerald Collier and Clodhopper (featuring members of the American Music Club). Marc's CD has been receiving mucho airplay as well as a Live Room broadcast last weekend. Look for Marc at various West Coast towns at the end of the month.

The studio has seen the likes of Three Day Stubble editing a 7" for Cool Beans which will come out...who knows when.

The AMM recording I did last year is next up in the TripleDAT system for editing. This fantastic recording should see the light of day at some point. I've got alot of work ahead of me on this one

Christian Asplund has been in editing the Brainstun recording for label shopping. Brainstun is some of the best "new" jazz around these days as many can attest from their dynamic live performance at the Speakeasy. This group features Christian Asplund on harmonium and viola, Matt Sperry on bass, Greg Cameron on drums and Jessica Lurie on sax.

Ed Pias and I finished editing a master for "Da Fingaz" first solo CD which will come out on Extreme later this year. This release is titled "Ancestors Halo" and features a base drone with intricate hand drum pieces flowing throughout. A world journey of percussion. Ed and Elizabeth Falconer have been recording some pakhawaj and bass koto improvisations which are simply sinister. More on this later.

Climax Golden Twins just installed the audio of the "Plywood Memories" installation at the Bellevue Art Museum. This installation (by Don Fels) will be up until June 15th and may possible be reconstructed in Washington DC if all goes right. The audio features stories told by various people of their "plywood memories" The installation is made of pure plywood and is a maze of rooms depicting plywood from it's meager beginnings as a sapling to kitchens, soapbox derbys and gliders. But remember...all these great uses come at a price.

You will still have to wait for the Sun City Girls live in Japan CD to hit the streets. The liners are being translated. "Box of Chameleons" if finished as a double CD but there has been talk of a third disc and vinyl box set to be added to this monster.

Pint Sized Spartacus (Gocher's solo effort) is finished and the final label details are being ironed out. This should be released in July. Charlie has already begun writing the followup as well as writing a live version which will feature Charlie on percussion, Elaine DiFalco on accordian, Tari Nelson Zagar on bass and Eyvind Kang on violin.

Speaking of the choppy Kang waters, Eyvind just returned from a successful Dying Ground tour of Europe as well as a Frisell tour. We are still working of the Dying Ground CD for Avant as well as the next NADE's CD for Tzadik. All in due time. "Sweetness of Sickness" is still doing well if your Kang thrist has not yet been quenched.

The Pale Nudes (featuring Amy Denio) just finished a West Coast tour to promote the domestic release of "Wise to The Heat". She is now off to Italy for a short tour and who knows what will happen when she returns.

Now I must ask for your help. I have been experimenting with RealAudio and have my first experiment up on my site as a Sun City Girls bonus cut for those who care. Point your browser to:

www.scottcolburn.com/scg/scg.html

At the bottom of the discography is a link called "Precious and Few". Click on it and if you have Netscape 3.0 and the appropriate RealAudio 3.0 plugin, you should be able to hear this cut from their last performance at Moe's in April of this year.

My close friend Spencer has informed me that there might be some trouble getting it to work, but that's what the experiment is all about. Let me know what happens when you go there.

Last but not least...I received some sour email after the last update. All I have to say is that the Internet is for communication of information. If you do not wish to receive this information, just let me know by returning this update to me. There is no need for nastyness.
