I am finally recovering from my trip to the great State of Chicago.
Many CD's were purchased including the Doctor Octogon (sans vox),
Lee Perry jungle mixes and a load of Eric Dolphy but the biggest
purchase was a BK subwoofer for the studio. It is mighty fine!
I also purchased an Audio Technica stereo mic to capture the
sounds, smells and tastes of Chicago. I captured my whole trip on
the el from Sheridan to Jackson and back. Who knows where this
stuff will show up.
The same mic captured Sir Richard Bishop's solo performance at Wall
of Sound in Seattle. This performance was to celebrate the release
of his solo CD "Salvador Kali" on the Revenant label (recorded by
yours truly).
Look for the June issue of "The Wire" which has an interview with
Rick and myself in the context of Sun City Girls.
June is a slow month recording-wise because of Jabon rehersals for
their performance at the Speakeasy on June 24th. This is the first
performance of Jabon in ten years! This performance will feature a
cover of Chrome's "Nova Feedback" as well as original compositions
for guitar, bass and drums. There will also be an interview with
Neil Hamburger as well as the premiere of "Stomach Noises of the
Stars". This is part of the Other Sounds series and I suspect it to
be Other (Other) Sounds of which that space has not witnessed
before.
"For those about to rock...we salute you"
Speaking of rock music, the Bali Girls cd "Housewive's High" has
been released by the Spork Label. Their crunching sound is
reminiscent of Unsane or Hammerhead. This is the first record I've
done on the recently purchased 16 track.
As always...you know the routine, if you want to be removed from
this list (and I know most of you have either been on this list for
a year or have requested to be placed on it) return this email to
me.
