Cut of the Month is MACHETE. This group plays quasi-traditional Cuban
music. Lots-o-percussion, Lots-o-Spanish. I always get a kick out of the
intro to this song because it sounds like the Fat Albert Theme.
DUBIOUS DUO were in for another day of improvisation on horns, banjo and
kitchen implements. What else can I say?
ARKADE brought in some newly recorded material for a mix. Their brand of
Low or Mazzy Starr influenced downer rock is sure to win some hearts if
they could only hear it.
ROB EMORY brought in a reel of tape from 1979 of Buchla synth experiments
from the University of Washington. If you have no idea what I'm talking
about look at buchla.com.
3 STARS came by to record another set from his "Country Roads" show which
consists of classic country songs sung in the style of the original. I
mean, he's like the Tiny Tim of country.
TED SMITH was in for a weekend to begin tracking of his brand of folk
music. I always thought "Bridge over Troubled Waters" was a little heavy on
the reverb but was a great album just the same, so now is my chance to
answer that. Dylan would be proud too.
FEAR of DOLLS was in to continue work on their new record. At times I hear
Teenage Jesus, but no one understands that reference. I guess I'm too old now.
