The WALKABOUTS stopped by for a day surgery on their two new CD's, both of which will be sold exclusively on their January European tour. One disc is Chris and Carla, another is the Walkabouts. Great stuff by a great band!
SUN CITY GIRLS finished their double CD epic titled "High Asia - Lo Pacific." It's a thinking person's foray into ethnic remote locational shortwave that carries the torch to the next level of supreme creativity and sound design.
BILLY JARCHO summoned the wizard to mix sound for a video version of his latest puppet show, titled "the Fattest Kitty". This show is hilarious in it's depiction of a small boy duped by a swindling TV salesman that sells Wowie Zowie Cat Food which makes your cat grow "big and strong" (ie, to monstrous proportions). Imagine hair balls large enough to crush people.
I've begun doing live broadcast mixes of bands from the Leopard Lounge recently, so if you've been listening to KEXP 90.3 (Seattle), you may have heard my work. Recent broadcasts thus far include DENISON WITMER, DANNY BARNES, PRESTON SCHOOL OF INDUSTRY and ALTA MAY.
CLIMAX GOLDEN TWINS finished the sound design for Vodvil's latest murder ballad opera titled SHADES OF PARKLAND. CGT do a section called "My Life in Law Enforcement" while SCOTT GRANLUND does his arrangement of a Samuel Barber symphony called "Knoxville". Scott's piece features 5 saxophones in 12 parts!
EYVIND KANG brought in his latest opus, which will be released on the Abduction label. This drone-based CD creates a calm, cool, collected mood in the listener - just what we may need these days.
MACPACK came in to do a live to 2-track blues demo with guitar, bass, drums, keys, trumpet and saxophone. Turned out great, but I expect nothing less!
Finally, look to page 200 of November's MIX MAGAZINE for a photo of Julian Martlew (my partner), Winston Jarrett (see the August Update) and I hamming it up in the studio. One world, y'all.
