Prepare yourself - Cut of the Month is TUNOG PIL-AM, a Philippine Kulintang
ensemble, and your ears about to delight. This cut is a traditional piece
called Tagunggo. If you are familiar with Balinese gamelan, you will enjoy
this variation. Oh, and the oldest player is 18, the youngest 12.

SUBLIME FREQUENCIES tuned in to edit and master several new releases -
Cambodian, Thai Molan, Tibet, Nepal, Sumatran Radio and Sumatran Pop Volume
2. It's a whole wide world of frequencies out there, boys and girls -
don't forget your coat.

The AUDIO WIZARD materialized at the Rendezvous last month. His
appearances are rare and disturbingly creepy... watch out!

KEXP had another set of great groups to mix:

DEVOTCHKA - Bulgarian polka-party-band-supreme with tuba, guitar, violin
and drums. Hiiigh energy!
BLONDE REDHEAD - probably the weirdest setup I've ever had, but they really
pushed the limit of acceptability and I appreciate that.
MOFRO - Stax-influenced soul and blues from Florida (of all places). Blew
my mind - good band, good music. From Florida.

CLIMAX GOLDEN TWINS made an appearance at the Sunset in corpse paint behind
faceless masks. We had a good time.

DOUG THERIAULT and ARTIS THE SPOONMAN stopped by for a day of guitar and
spoon improv! Nice stuff, and such a trip to watch.

Mark Nichols threw a listening party for the 3 CD box set of his opera JOE
BEAN in our place last month. Joe Bean is like Jesus Christ Superstar
meets the Flaming Lips, I kid you not. Extra nice and really
ambitious. Check it out if you get a chance. Rather, make it a point.

FEAR OF DOLLS stopped by for the final mixes on their next full length CD.
There brand of Swans/Public Image Ltd will surely appeal to your gothic
little finger, my precious.

Blah to you all, and good day.
